Pruning work should be done by a knowledgeable and licensed Arborist who understands the inner workings of trees and how each cut can affect the tree.

Pruning work that is done incorrectly can be unsightly and have a negative impact on the trees health due to decay, infestation, disease and consequently the trees health will decline.

At Wilcox Tree we have professional tree climbers and a 65’ aerial lift for safe, professional and reliable pruning service for you and your trees.

TREE CABLING and BRACING

Tree cabling reduces the risk of tree failure.  Structural weakness, V-shaped crotch and long heavy limbs are some of the reasons for a cable system.
At Wilcox Tree Experts LLC we will provide a professional line of bracing and cabling techniques and supplies.  We offer a free consultation to evaluate your trees condition and suggested needs to keep your tree healthy.

TREE and SHRUB FERTILIZATION

Wilcox Tree Experts LLC offers two types of fertilization; liquid deep root fertilization as well as systemic fertilization.  We use state of the art equipment, techniques and products.

  1. Deep Root Fertilization is the method in which the liquid fertilization is injected directly into the root zone of the tree or shrubs.  This it’s the most beneficial method of fertilization.
  2. Systematic fertilization is injected directly into the lower trunk of the tree and transported through the cambium.  This technique has been proven to have exceptional results for over 35 years in feeding situations where the root zone of the tree is difficult to reach.

Fertilization can help to bring stressed trees back to full health as well as prevent healthy trees from becoming sick.  Much the same as you and I taking vitamins daily, fertilization can help your trees ward off the many diseases they face each year.

INSECT and DISEASE CONTROL

Insects and Disease Control on your property starts with a thorough evaluation of your trees and shrubs by a professionally trained, CT licensed arborist to determine the proper program needed for your situation.
Wilcox Tree Experts LLC offers a full line of systemic injection treatments and foliage spray application programs to control.

WHY MULCH?

Mulching is a very important way to maintain a hearty landscape.

  1. Mulch can help soil retain its moisture
  2. Mulch can reduce the growth of weeds
  3. Mulch can keep soil warmer in the winter and cooler in the summer, which helps to maintain a more even soil temperature.
  4. Mulch that surrounds a tree or shrub can help prevent damage from lawn equipment
  5. Mulch can add to the beauty of a landscape

WHEN and HOW TO MULCH

For new planting the best time to mulch is right after they have been planted.  For established plantings mulch is best applied in early spring since it helps to prevent weeds and helps plants recover from the winter months.
A recommended amount of mulch is two to three inches.  Too much mulch can be harmful to plants, shrubs and trees.  Too much mulch can also prevent water and air from passing through to the roots and suffocate plant roots which will result in yellowing of leaves and poor growth.
When mulching a tree, keep the mulch away from the base of the trunk in order to keep the crown exposed.  If mulch is piled up around the base of the tree, the trunk may begin to rot and insects and disease may occur.
Wilcox Tree Experts LLC produces organic mulch that is very effective in mulching landscapes.  The mulch is composted for 8 months and then run threw a tub grinder to produce a fresh, dark, organic, and uniformly sized mulch that looks great and works for your trees and plants.
